Similar to numesrous austenitic stainless steel alloys, 904L round bar exhibits exceptional resistance to corrosion. Initially developed to counteract deterioration caused by exposure to sulfuric acid, tshe primary objective behind the creation of grade 1.4539 Round Bar was to formulate an alloy capable of withstanding varying concentrations of sulfuric acid.

In contrast to grades 304 or even alloy 316, sulfuric acid, known for its highly corrosive nature, has minimal impact on the UNS N08904 Flat Bar within a temperature range of 35? to 40?. This oxidative acid can dissolve metals like copper, and when concentrated and exposed to water, its hygroscopic nature triggers an exothermic reaction that is corrosive to many metals.

Due to its relative resistance to this acid, the ASTM B649 type SUS 904L Rod can be safely utilized for transportation and storage in sulfuric acid processing units. Furthermore, the X1NiCrMoCu25-20-5 Hex Bar is impervious to decay in both organic and inorganic acids, although it is vulnerable to acids containing halides. Such acids are highly aggressive and can readily corrode Uranus B6 Square Bar, hence the preference for duplex stainless steel in such applications.
